CCSVI India: Multiple Sclerosis Liberation Procedure
As every one is aware, the “Liberation Procedure” has been the latest hope for MS sufferers and has taken the news and media world by storm.
While this procedure is still in its infancy and is being further researched, it has given a lot of hope to many patients that have already had this procedure and those hoping to have it in the near future.
The procedure involves surgery with three options, Balloon Angioplasty, Balloon Angioplasty with stents and Venous Grafting ( For the first time in the world, a pioneering procedure was performed by one of our Surgeons by taking a saphinous vein from the patient’s leg and grafting it on to the diseased Jugular Vein where stenting was not an option) . After surgery our patients spend a week undergoing a customized comprehensive MS Rehabilitation Session before heading home.
The results of the surgery are as varied as the symptoms of the disease itself. Some patients are seeing a significant improvement whilst others are seeing minimal changes.
STC’s role here is to make this procedure easily accessible to those MS Patients who have been found to have CCSVI and are willing to go ahead to have this procedure to see if it will at least stop the progress of MS and improve the quality of their lives if even slightly.

In March 2010, STC was the first to arrange the “Liberation Procedure” for 9 Canadian patients outside of Canada. Since then STC has sent over 70 patients for this tretment to our JCI ACCREDITED partner facilities. They have all returned home with varying degrees of success and are eagerly monitoring their progress. It will be a while before any tangible benefits can be measured, but to those suffering with MS, even slight improvements in coordination, fatigue, incontinence have meant a great deal.
